PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICALS

This is a legislative requirement for some industries in Australia. It is essential to assess if potential employees are fit to carry out specific duties in specific environments.

BENEFITS
Research has shown that there is a significant cost savings for companies who carry out pre-placement medicals due to lower incidence of injury, lower absence rate and earlier return to work in a case of work place injury.
OCCUFAM has got a team of Occupational Health Professionals who have appropriate training to carry out pre-employment medicals as below:

  • Detailed occupational and medical history
  • Multi system examination (cardiovascular with cardiovascular risk assessment)
  • Musculoskeletal assessment
  • respiratory assessment
  • Visual assessment (visual acuity, fundoscopy, ishihara testing)
  • Audiometry assessment; Hearing assessment under the AS/NZS 1269.4:2005
  • Spirometry for lung function test
  • ECG
  • urine drug screen

DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING

NHMRC estimates 5 to 10 % of workplace fatalities involve alcohol and other illicit drugs
WHY HAVE DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY?
It is a statutory requirement in many industry particularly Aviation, rail, maritime and road to have a drug and alcohol program.
OCCUFAM has MEDICAL REVIEW OFFICERS who have knowledge and understanding of drug and alcohol testing procedures and methodologies.
We will help industries and companies to develop a D&A policy and help maintain a safe workplace by providing D&A screening in a professional manner.

We offers the following testing:

  •  Urinary, oral fluids, Hair, Breath (Alcohol) to AS/NZS 4308:2008  STANDARDS
  •  We also provide Random, for cause, post accident and pre-employment  drug testing

AVIATION MEDICALS

OCCUFAM has got doctors who are certified by civil aviation safety authority as Designated aviation medical examiners (DAME) to carry out aviation medicals. We conduct private and commercial pilot medicals as follows:

CLASS 1 (VALID FOR 1 YEAR)

  • Air transport pilot license
  • Commercial pilot license
  • Multicrew pilot (aeroplane) license
  • Flight engineer license
  • Student flight engineer license

CLASS 2 (VALID FOR 4 YEARS IN <40 AND 2 YEARS IN >40)

  • Student Pilot License
  • Private pilot license
  • Commercial pilot (balloon)
  • Flight radio operator license

CLASS 3 (valid for 2 years in <65 yrs and yearly in >65yrs)

  • Air traffic controller
  • Flight service officer

 

HEALTH SURVEILLANCE

OCCUFAM medical has a robust health surveillance program which helps to assess and monitor employees who are continuously exposed to workplace hazards such as (noise, dust and lead). We are able to assist in reviewing work place hazards, advising on the management of these hazards and help to create and implement an effective health surveillance program for the workforce.

INJURY MANAGEMENT

OCCUFAM offers a comprehensive injury management and return to work program which is aimed at getting the injured worker back to work in record time. We have experienced occupational health doctors and a facility that is fully equipped  to manage most minor work place injuries. We have a good understanding of work cover legislative requirements. Our Doctors will promptly assess the injured worker, issue an appropriate work cover certificate of capacity, liaise with the injury management/rehabilitation officer and discuss alternate duties with the injured worker. This in turn will help employers to reduce loss time and loss of revenue by providing timely, convenient and cost effective treatment to their injured workers.

WORKPLACE VACCINATION

OCCUFAM  has a vaccination program that is specific for various industries, working in certain jobs increases your exposure to some vaccine preventable diseases. We have a tailor made vaccination program to suit most industries
